De VUB is the University of Life.
What good is theoretical knowledge if you can’t turn it into concrete applications? Saint V, or Pierre-Théodore Verhaegen, the enlightened mind who founded the Free University of Brussels on November 20, 1834, thought the same way.
With a nickname like Saint V, you can brew up something delightful, we thought. Like a true Brussels geuze from the microbrewery of the VUB. This practice-oriented project brings together students, teachers, and industry to blend the theoritical with the empirical. Fully in the spirit of VUB, the University of Life.
Every year, the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the Université libre de Bruxelles still celebrate their Saint V together. It’s a festival of freedom, enlightenment, and unity. Because Saint V is meant to be enjoyed with at least two. Cheers!
